ベトナムとオーストラリアの国籍を持つピアニスト、クァン・ホン・ルーは、レフ・ヴラセンコ国際ピアノコンクール、ショパン国際ピアノコンクール in Asia、ユーレジオ賞国際ピアノコンクール、チタ・ディ・オレッジョ、ヴァルティドーネ国際ピアノコンクールなどで数々の栄誉ある賞を受賞しています。
ワルシャワで開催されたショパン国際ピアノコンクールで優勝及び金賞を受賞したダン・タイ・ソン教授に師事したルーは、尊敬する師から直接招待を受け、ベトナムで開催されたコンサート 「ダン・タイ・ソン ― 20世紀の新しい音」でデュエット演奏を行いました。ルーは、繊細な叙情性と情熱的な気質を融合させた、非常に才能のあるピアニストとして高い評価を得てきました。
近年ではニュージーランド、オーストラリア、ベトナム、中国、ハンガリー、オーストリアでリサイタルを開催し、今後はオーストラリアと日本でのリサイタルも予定されています。
オーケストラとは、クイーンズランド交響楽団（オーストラリア）、ロイヤル・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団（イギリス）、武漢フィルハーモニー交響楽団（中国）、フィレンツェ管弦楽団（イタリア）、ソルノク交響楽団（ハンガリー）、メトロポリタン管弦楽団（オーストラリア）などと共演。
ラトル・レコードからリリースされたリストの12曲の超絶技巧練習曲集も高い評価を得ています。
Profile
Vietnamese – Australian pianist Quang Hong Luu is renowned for winning prestigious awards, including the Lev Vlassenko International Piano Competition, the Chopin Asia International Piano Competition, the Euregio Award International Piano Competition, the Cita Di Oleggio and Valtidone International Piano Competition.
Having studied under Professor and People’s Artist Dang Thai Son, the former First Prize and Gold Medal at the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Luu Hong Quang was honored to be personally invited by his esteemed teacher to duet perform in the concert “Dang Thai Son – New Sound in 20th Century” in Vietnam.
During his career, Mr. Luu built a reputation as a highly talented pianist known for a distinctive mix of sensitive lyricism and passionate temperament. His recent performances include recitals across New Zealand, Australia, Vietnam, China, Hungary, and Austria, with upcoming recitals scheduled in Australia and Japan.
His orchestral appearances include performances with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra (Australia), the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra (UK), the Wuhan Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra (China), Orchestra from Florence (Italy), Szolnok Symphony Orchestra (Hungary) and the Metropolitan Orchestra (Australia).
His most recent recording of the Liszt Transcendental Etudes released by Rattle has also received widespread acclaim.

水 ― 生命のエッセンス
水を通して、生命は流れ、呼吸し、成長します。
音楽において、水は古くから偉大な作曲家の想像力と感情を揺さぶってきました。水は形を変える存在であり、流動的で、無限で、そして心を揺さぶる力を持っています。作曲家たちは水を通して、周囲の世界と内なる風景によって形作られた物語を紡ぎます。
この特別なプログラムでは、水を芸術的な導き手として、時間、記憶、そして感情を巡る旅に皆様をご招待いたします。
まずは「Une barque sur l’océan（海原の小舟）」から。
物語は遥か遠くの海、広大で神秘的な世界を漂う船から始まります。ここで水は自然の外的な力、雄大で、荒々しく、果てしなく広がる力です。嵐の中で打ち寄せる波の力強さから、水面に映る夕焼けの穏やかな静けさまで、私たちはその畏敬の念を抱かせる美しさを目の当たりにします。
私にとって、この音楽は私たちの人生の外なる大海原を想起させます。それは無限の可能性を秘めた領域であり、私たちは果てしない未知の世界を航海する小さな船に過ぎません。
海が静まると、リストの「ヴェネツィアとナポリ」とともに、イタリアの黄金の光に包まれます。
リストのロマンチックな視線の下、水は自然の力から魂のこもった反射へと変容します。「ゴンドリエラ」では、ヴェネツィアの波打つ運河に太陽が踊り、「カンツォーネ」では、悩める心の震えを感じ取ります。そして、活気に満ちた「タランテラ」では、水は動きの中で喜びへと変わり、一つ一つの音符がきらめく雫のように、光とエネルギーで空気を彩ります。
リストを通して、私たちは日々の生活の中を流れる水を感じます。喜びや悲しみと混ざり合い、人間経験のリズムに呼応する水です。
そして、シューベルトのソナタ 変ロ長調に辿り着きます。これは彼の最も超越的な作品の一つであり、彼が亡くなるわずか3ヶ月前に作曲されました。冒頭で私が耳にするのは、海の轟きではなく、内なる海の静かな広大さです。ラヴェルやリストが私たちを外の風景へと導いたのに対し、シューベルトは私たちを内面へと、記憶、内省、そして魂の深い流れへと引き込みます。
シューベルトは自らの目で海を見たことはありませんでしたが、詩と歌を通して海を想像しました。私にとって、このソナタの冒頭は、静かな海の前に立つ男のように感じられます。彼の魂はカモメのように水面を舞い上がり、自由で、無重力で、永遠です。
死を意識しながらも、これは悲しみの別れではありません。むしろ、それは人生 — その美しさ、脆さ、そして痛み — を最後に抱きしめる行為なのです。すべてのフレーズに、音楽は愛、切望、そして感謝の念で脈打っています。苦しみを通して、音楽は高揚します ― 最も人間的で、最も優しく、最も真実なものにしがみつきながら。
この3つの作品を通して、私たちはラヴェルからシューベルトへと、単に時間を遡るのではなく――外の世界から内の世界へ、目に見える世界から心の奥底へと旅するのです。

Message from the artist for coming Piano Recital in Japan
Water – the essence of life.
Through it, life flows, breathes, and grows.
In music, water has long stirred the imagination and emotions of great composers. It is a shapeshifter—fluid, boundless, and evocative. Through water, composers craft stories, shaped both by the world around them and the landscapes within.
In this special program, I invite you to journey with me—through time, memory, and feeling—with water as our artistic guide.
We begin with “Une barque sur l’océan” (A Boat on the Ocean).
The story opens far out at sea—a ship adrift in a vast and mysterious world. Here, water is an external force of nature: majestic, untamed, and endlessly expansive. We witness its awe-inspiring beauty—from the power of waves crashing in a storm to the gentle hush of a sunset reflected on its surface.
To me, this music evokes the outer ocean of our lives: a realm of infinite possibility, where we are but tiny vessels navigating the boundless unknown.
As the ocean calms, we arrive in the golden light of Italy with Liszt’s “Venezia e Napoli.”
Under Liszt’s romantic gaze, water transforms—from natural force into soulful reflection. In “Gondoliera,” the sun dances on the rippling canals of Venice; in “Canzone,” we sense the tremor of a troubled heart; and in the vibrant “Tarantella,” water becomes joy in motion—each note like a sparkling droplet painting the air with light and energy.
Through Liszt, we feel water as it flows through our daily lives—mingling with our joy and sorrow, echoing the rhythms of our human experience.
Finally, we arrive at Schubert’s Sonata in B-flat Major—one of his most transcendent creations, written just three months before his passing.
In its opening, I hear not the roar of the sea, but the quiet vastness of an inner ocean.
Where Ravel and Liszt guided us through external landscapes, Schubert draws us inward—into memory, reflection, and the deep currents of the soul.
Though he never saw the ocean with his own eyes, Schubert imagined it through poetry and song. To me, the beginning of this sonata feels like a man standing before a still sea, his spirit soaring like a gull above the water—free, weightless, eternal.
Despite his awareness of death, this is not a farewell of sorrow. Rather, it is a final embrace of life—its beauty, its fragility, its pain. In every phrase, the music pulses with love, yearning, and gratitude. Through suffering, it rises—holding on to what is most human, most tender, most true.
Through these three works, we do not simply travel backward in time—from Ravel to Schubert—we journey from the external to the internal, from the visible world into the hidden chambers of the heart.
I hope this musical journey offers the same quiet reflection I wish to share with you.
I have come from a distant land, across oceans and cultures, to be with you here—and together, through music, perhaps we can find connection in the shared waters of our emotions.

私は長年にわたり、ルー・ホン・クアン氏の音楽的成長を見守ってきました。彼はモントリオール大学で私のクラスで修士号を取得しました。ルー氏は高いレベルのピアニストとしてのプロ意識を持ち、その芸術性は感銘深いものです。また、優れた音楽的創造性と卓越した舞台での存在感も示しています。

Messages for Quang Hong Luu’s Piano Recital in Japan
I have followed Mr Luu Hong Quang’s musical development for many years and he finished his master degree in my class at the University of Montreal. Mr Luu possesses a high level of pianistic professionalism and his artistry is impressive. Mr Luu also demonstrates great musical creativity and a remarkable stage presence.
Dang Thai Son – First prize winner of 1980 Warsaw Chopin International Competition
I had the opportunity to hear Mr Luu Hong Quang perform the Liszt Hungarian Rhapsody no.12 during the Ho Chi Minh Music Camp in Vietnam in August 2018. We were both on the faculty of the music camp. Mr Luu is a musician of very deep conviction and high artistic integrity, and this much was evident in his playing of the one piece that I heard him perform that night. Every note and every silence was thoroughly meaningful, and as a result, the Rhapsody had so much character. And to add to this, he also possesses a spectacular command of the piano, which made all the technicall challenges seem easy. I am convinced that Mr Luu has a bright future ahead of him, if given the right opportunity to shine.

I still vividly remember the special feeling that I felt deeply and quietly when I encountered Quang Hong Luu’s music, as if the small stone he threw in the calm lake started creating beautiful ripples across the water.
Tears welled up when I listened to Quang’s Tchaikovsky’s four seasons. It was such a special experience that the feelings that were hidden deep down in my heart were slowly and gently unveiled by his music.
Quang’s beautiful and clear tone, richness in tone color, exquisite poetic sentiment, excellent technique, the list goes on and on. However, I think one of his most wonderful points is sincerity, which is to approach the music without flaunting his excellent technique.
When you experience Quang’s gentleness, tenderness, delicacy and sincerity within his strong passion, I am very sure you would be immersed in a deep, peaceful and real joy.
