ABOUT – Jana Boušková Harp Recital 2019
Jana Boušková, the world-class harpist of the Czech Republic, and the chief soloist of Czech Philharmonic Orchestra will return to Japan in April 2019 for the first time in two years. In the last show held in Parthenon Tama, Tokyo in 2017, gave the audience deep impressions because of the fact that harp is not solo instruments and usually played as a salon music in an ensemble in an orchestra or flute etc. All songs at the recital in 2017 were played with solo accompaniment, which was a very unique program. This time, Jana Boušková will appear as a soloist again, with a strong hope for Japan tour. In Nagano, Aichi and Tokyo, a total of three recitals will be held.
All three songs planned to be played in the night will be by Czech composers of her home country, Summer Impressions by Josef Suk, American suite by Antonín Dvořák and Má vlast (My Country) – Vyšehrad, Vltava (Moldau), Šárka by Bedřich Smetana. American suite by Antonín Dvořák is originally written for the orchestra, but Jana will play in a version for a harp solo arranged by herself.
In addition to Vltava (Moldau) from the symphonic poem Má vlast (My Country) by Smetana which was acclaimed in the recital in 2017, Vyšehrad and Šárka will be played this time. The version arranged for a harp solo became famous by being played by professor Liubyze Vajarvar, a famous harpist and the mother of Jana Boušková. While preserving its tradition, Jana Boušková is widely recognized as the best interpreter and performer of her work.
